Piping and pressure tank in pump house.

Where should I build my pumphouse?

If you can't fit equipment like controls or filtration in your home, you'll need a pump house. Instead of building directly over the well, modern pump houses are built 10–20 feet away. Proper Well Head Completion prevents freezing and contamination, keeping water lines underground.

Can I work on
my own well?

In most cases, you must hire a licensed and registered well pump installer or well driller to perform work on your well. As a well owner, it is important to understand your responsibilities and legal requirements. The Ground Water Protection Regulation is a great resource to learn more information!

When do I need to license my well?

Under the Water Sustainability Act, typically, all non-domestic groundwater users must apply for and secure a water license before they can legally use, store, or divert water. Talk to Front Counter BC for more information on your specific situation.
